Sources from the industry and recent trademark applications say that the Escudo is a name the company registered last year along with "Torqnado", according to HT Auto. Interestingly, Suzuki uses the Escudo name for the Vitara in places like Japan. But in India, the Escudo is expected to be a new product made for local customers and will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara.
Maruti Suzuki Launch In timeline in segment 2025:According to the publication, the new SUV is expected to debut in the upcoming festive season, aiming for one of the most competitive segments in the Indian automotive market. Once launched, the Escudo will probably compete against well-known rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, and MG Astor. The vehicle may be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealership network.
Maruti Suzuki Design Features: The Escudo is likely to be built on Suzuki’s Global C platform, which is also the foundation for the Grand Vitara. Nevertheless, the new SUV is anticipated to include some changes, possibly a slightly longer wheelbase, to improve cabin space and comfort.
The design and proportions may take inspiration from international Vitara models, but will include unique modifications tailored for the Indian market.
